Over the past few years, the Hard Techno scene has seen a wave of fresh talent pushing boundaries and reshaping the sound – and Stan Christ is undeniably one of the standout names leading that charge. The Dutch producer and DJ has been making serious noise with his relentless, industrial energy, and now, he’s set to make his long-awaited Czech debut. On the last Friday of April, we're bringing him to Roxy Prague – and trust us, this is not a night you'll want to miss. You might not know his name inside out just yet, but chances are you've already danced to his tracks, championed by some of the biggest artists on the global circuit. We managed to catch up with Stan for a quick chat ahead of the show, but the real introduction happens on the dancefloor. Join us on April 25th and witness firsthand what this rising force in hard techno is all about.
Hey Stan, thanks for your time for our interview. I noticed an old photo on your Facebook page from 2022, where you're standing at a scenic viewpoint in Prague. That means your debut at Roxy won’t be your first time in the city. How did you like your time in the Czech Republic, and what did you do while you were here?
That picture is actually from 2016 when I was there on holiday. It won’t be my first time in Prague but it will be my first time playing there. When I was there back in 2016 I did what all the tourists do I guess. I went to all the hotspots and nice views that this amazing city has to offer. And eat as much local food as possible of course.
It might feel like a lifetime ago, but you started making music back in 2013. Who were your biggest inspirations back then? The Dutch dance scene has such a rich Dance history—was electronic music a part of your life from a young age?
Electronic music has definitely been a big part of my life since a young age. I remember going to the Free Record Shop (a place where my parents would buy me music back in the days) to buy Trance & Hardstyle CD’s. Back then my parents also bought me Tiësto his liveset of one of his performances on DVD. I remember picking it up from the shell and asking my dad if we could buy it. Watching it at home blew my mind and gave me chills. The feeling that Tiestö must have felt was something I would love to experience as well.
But yes, for me it started with Tiësto & Trance at an early age which involved into liking Hardcore with artists such as Angerfist, Neophyte & Korsakoff.
Can you take us through that journey—from uploading your first tracks on SoundCloud at 15 years old to play at arenas for thousands of people? Can you describe how you felt at the time?
Uploading my first track at 15 wasn’t that cool to be honest. My close friends supported me from the start, but my colleagues at that time mostly made fun of it. I think I took it down a week later.
Playing the big stages I do now still feels surreal and it’s definitely an indescribable feeling. You feel happiness & joy but also proud & thankful to everyone and everything who is supporting you.
If you could travel back in time and experience one legendary Rave from history, which one would you choose?
This is a really tough question, but to relive a rave I would say one of the REAKTOR events from 2014 in Amsterdam. Just because this is the period where I fell in love with Techno and it’s been such a long time I’ve been to this kind of event.
But if we go back in time to when I wasn’t old enough to rave, it would definitely be Thunderdome in the 90’s or 00’s.
When you launched your label Revised Records in 2020, was it because you wanted full creative control, or was it maybe because labels were not responding to your demos?
Back then I used to work for an independent electronic music label. And the founder of that label learned me how to run a label and suggested me to start my own label for my own music. To this day I’m still very grateful for the knowledge and opportunity that he gave me.
Your Czech debut behind the decks is just around the corner—any final words for the local fans who shouldn’t miss this Rave?
Make sure to join us at ROXY on April 25th and I’ll make sure that you won’t regret it. It’s time to destroy this place!
